  3.   ANNOUNCING "FORAY" (TM) MUSHROOM INFORMATION & IDENTIFICATION FOR THE AMIGA

  6. When enthusiasts get together to collect, identify, and learn more about 
  7. mushrooms it's called a "foray." With a keen interest in extending that 
  8. feeling of fun and discovery, eye 2 eye design is pleased to announce
  9. "FORAY" ... a pictorial mushroom information and identification database 
  10. for the Amiga. 
  11.  
  12. Even someone who has never picked a wild mushroom, and doesn't intend to, 
  13. can enjoy FORAY as a pictorial information source. You can modify the included
  14. records, add new records, or create entire new databases. FORAY is also 
  15. designed to assist the serious mycologist, offering the matrix for an 
  16. extensive multi-genus database. FORAY follows the same Group, then Genus, 
  17. then species naming convention found in mushroom books and field guides.

  19. The present version of FORAY supports the four major mushroom Groups:  
  20. Agarics, Boletes, Chanterelles, and Polypores. (Future upgrades will add 
  21. more.) Records may be retrieved by Genus, Genus.species, common name, or 
  22. by selecting feature keys and initializing a search. Features associated 
  23. with any mushroom record may be changed, providing the opportunity to 
  24. fine-tune an entry. Individualized comments and "field notes" may be saved 
  25. with any record.

  27. Each mushroom entry can have a picture. The included pictures are a study 
  28. of how the Amiga's basic 16 colors may be expanded to accurately reproduce 
  29. the much wider palette of mushrooms in the wild. Using an Amiga paint program, 
  30. you can create new pictures to add to the database.

  32. FORAY opens on its own hi-res screen on any Amiga with 2.0 or greater. It 
  33. has its own proportional font, picture gadgets, and a beautiful, easy-to-use 
  34. interface.

  57. You can run the demo from the floppy by simply clicking on the icon.
  58.  
  59. If you want to install Foray on your hard drive do the following:
  60.  
  61.     Make a new drawer on the hard drive wherever you want; name the
  62.     new drawer "Foray."
  63.  
  64.     Copy all the files on the disk to the new drawer.
  65.     
  66.     Assign "Foray:" to the drawer by typing this line from the CLI
  67.  
  68.         "assign Foray: <path/Foray> " 
  69.  
  70.     where the path is the place you put the drawer. For example, 
  71.     if you put the drawer in the "Work:" partition, the assignment 
  72.     line would be-
  73.     
  74.         assign Foray: Work:Foray
  75.  
  76.     
  77. Foray requires Amiga operating system 2.0 or greater, and likes a
  78. non-flickering screen.
  79.  
  80. All the pictures are original, created with DPaint... nothing was scanned.
  81. Please do not separate the pictures from the program.

  83. Save is disabled in this demo, but printing is left working.

  85. So that we can get FORAY launched, we are making the standard "introductory- 
  86. buy direct" offer. You can get the FORAY program disk, the pictures disk, 
  87. and a printed manual for only $40. The "release" version will have all four
  88. mushroom Groups and 40+ pictures in the databases.
